Rats and Mice

We deal with rodent infestations throughout Summit County and up to a radius of 50 miles for neighboring cities. In the cases of both rats and mice we do an inspection of the property to assess potential places where they could hide, entry points and food supply.

In situations where rodenticide needs to be placed in areas with children or pets it will be placed in tamper-proof boxes into which the rodents can enter to feed but children and pets cannot open or get access to the poison. Rodenticide placed outdoors will always be in safe external bait stations to protect wildlife. Summit County Pest Control supports The Campaign For Responsible Rodenticide Use whose logo you will find on this page.

Rodents are mostly active at night and you do not see them as often in the daytime. They gnaw objects to keep their incisor teeth short and this may be a real danger when electric wiring is concerned. The most common rodent pest in Ohio are the House Mouse, Roof Rat and the Norway Rat or Sewer Rat.

Bird Control

Birds serve an important role in the ecosystem, but some species of birds are considered pests. These include:

  • Pigeons
  • House sparrow
  • Starling

Being categorized as pests, they can be legally controlled with no justification other than the property owner’s displeasure. Apart from being a nuisance and defacing your property, birds can also carry many diseases over an extended area.

Some of the more serious disease include:

  • histoplasmosis (a lung disease that can be fatal if untreated)
  • salmonella
  • ornithosis (a lower or upper respiratory disease resulting in fever, chills and headache)
  • pseudotuberculosis (causing fever and abdominal pain)
  • fleas and mites
  • The list goes on and on...

If you have a bird control problem contact us for a survey of your property and we will setup a plan of attack to scare away these feathered foes from your home or office.
